Important: To capture keystrokes in your recorded session, you need to install and run a keystroke display tool on your RDP target machine.

KeyCastr for macOS

Installation:

brew install --cask keycastr

Alternative: Download from GitHub Releases

Setup Instructions:

Launch KeyCastr application
Grant Accessibility permissions when prompted
Configure display settings:
- Position: Bottom-left or top-right corner
- Font Size: Large (for better OCR)
- Background: Opaque/solid color
- Display Duration: 2-3 seconds
Start KeyCastr before beginning your RDP session
Verify keystrokes appear on screen when typing

Ready! KeyCastr will display all keystrokes (including shortcuts like ⌘C, ⌥⌘I) on screen during recording.

Captura for Windows

Installation:

Download Captura from GitHub Releases

Alternative: Use winget install MathewSachin.Captura

Setup Instructions:

Launch Captura application
Go to Settings → Keystrokes
Enable Show Keystrokes
Configure display settings:
- Position: Bottom-left corner
- Font Size: Large (18-24px)
- Background: Semi-transparent or solid
- Display Duration: 2-3 seconds
Start keystroke display before RDP session
Test by typing - keystrokes should appear on screen

Note: Captura may require administrator privileges for global keystroke capture.

Installation:

Setup Instructions:

Launch screenkey from terminal: screenkey
Configure display settings:
- Position: Bottom or top of screen
- Font Size: Large (for visibility)
- Background: Semi-transparent
- Timeout: 2-3 seconds
Start screenkey before RDP session
Verify keystrokes display when typing

Tip: Use screenkey --show-settings to access configuration GUI.
